Enabled2Parent began its journey as a response to the gaps in support experienced by our founder, Sarah Fay, a Paediatric Occupational Therapist and a disabled parent herself. During her pregnancy and the early days of parenthood, Sarah found that accessible, inclusive parenting support was often out of reach. Suitable mother-and-baby classes were limited, integrating necessary caregivers was challenging, and useful information for disabled parents simply wasn't available.
As Sarah sought guidance, she discovered that many disabled parents in England and Wales not only lacked practical advice but sometimes lost custody of their children due to misperceptions and inadequate support systems. Determined to change this, Sarah founded Enabled2Parent in 2020, dedicating the charity to filling these crucial gaps. Our mission is to ensure that every parent, whatever their needs or circumstances, receives the assistance, information and community they deserve. Today, Enabled2Parent uses technology, a trained disability parenting specialist, and strong peer networks to support and empower disabled parents on their unique journeys.
We're here to help disabled parents, families and professionals by providing unwavering support and clear guidance at every stage of the parenting journey. Our mission encompasses:

Over 80 personalised care plans completed for supported parents
6-week support groups of up to 10 parents
Over 800 members actively engaged in our community
The experiences of disabled parents reach well beyond the individual, affecting entire families and communities. Our advocacy supports disabled parents so children aren't disadvantaged by barriers in society. Together, with support for disabled families across England and Wales, we're working towards a future where every family feels included, respected and supported.

Sarah Fay is a dedicated Paediatric Occupational Therapist and founder of Enabled2Parent, established to offer real, practical support for disabled parents in England and Wales. Graduating from the University of Derby in 1995, Sarah began her career in North London, working across both physical medicine and mental health. Her professional journey led her overseas to New Zealand, India, and Eastern Europe, where she supported children with complex needs. Sarah then transitioned to Higher Education as a Lecturer at Canterbury Christchurch University, publishing “The Special Educator's Toolkit,” and completing advanced qualifications in teaching and OT practice.
Returning to hands-on work in 2010, Sarah developed expertise in medico-legal practice, creating reports to support children and adults after personal injuries. She continues to provide expert assessments for disabled parents involved in Family Court cases. Sarah's personal story is deeply woven into the foundation of Enabled2Parent. During a routine scan for a suspected tumour, she discovered her pregnancy at thirty weeks. This announcement began a very challenging and brief pregnancy, further complicated by both Sarah and her husband's disabilities.
Experiencing her own mental health challenges, Sarah was admitted to a Mother and Baby Unit, where she proved, through thorough assessment, her capability to parent independently. Despite being classed as “high risk” and undergoing a year of community monitoring, Sarah was given her parenting “wings” after her daughter's first year. Nearly eight years on, their family thrives, demonstrating the power of appropriate support and understanding.
Combining her clinical knowledge, lived experience and drive to help others, Sarah ensures that Enabled2Parent supports parents (and even grandparents) at any stage, from planning through to everyday family life. Her expertise covers equipment needs, housing, functional and driving assessments, applications for benefits including PIP, and child-related health and development concerns.
Sarah is especially passionate about enabling professionals to understand and improve their support for disabled parents. Through ongoing training and education, she helps organisations and advocates across the South East and beyond. Her continued commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and advocacy is at the heart of all that Enabled2Parent stands for.

Marketing Lead
I have over twenty-four years of work experience in a variety of roles and sectors. In 2024, while balancing part-time studies and caring for my disabled son, I decided to utilise my skills through volunteer work in the local community.
With a strong background in social media and marketing, I enjoy helping communities grow through impactful engagement. I am incredibly excited to join as a social media manager, where I can combine my passion for digital engagement while building a supportive online community, sharing valuable resources, and connecting with parents who need encouragement and guidance.
I believe in the power of digital storytelling to raise awareness, inspire action, and bring people together for a greater cause. By amplifying the voices of those who need support, I want to create positive change and help the charity reach the people who need it most.
